Policies and Procedures
STUDIO POLICIES
This contract is to inform you of your rights and obligations as a student of Downtown
Creative Studios. On submission of enrolment form, you agree to be bound by the terms and
conditions outlined within this contract.
• You agree to enrol as a student of Downtown Creative Studios
• You agree to abide by the rules and obligations set out in this contract as a
student of Downtown Creative Studios
• You agree to abide by the following payment plan: (Full Term): you agree to
commit to 1 school term of weekly lessons. Pay in full (minimum of 10 weeks)
before the date of your first lesson.
• You agree to pay via direct debit upon receiving invoice.
• Fair Go Policy: where multiple lessons are missed by a student during a term, the
“Fair Go Policy” will be enforced. I.e. A weekly student will not miss more than 2
lessons in a term and a fortnightly student will not miss more than 1 lesson in a
term. Every appointment missed outside this allowance will be charged for at the
full rate.
• In the result of a missed lesson (with 24 hours notice of absence) a make up
lesson must be arranged and completed before the end of term. No catch up
lesson or credit’s will be applied to the following term. If the student is unable to
attend a rescheduled lesson the fee will be forfeited.
• Please Note: If a student is to be absent from school, and therefore their lesson, as the result of a school excursion or any other event, it is the responsibility of the parent to advise Downtown Creative Studios in writing to give 24 hours notice. Downtown Creative Studios makes every effort to plan around the school calendar but it is ultimately the responsibility of the family to advise in writing if their child will be absent on their lesson day.
• No other student’s lesson will be rescheduled to accommodate a student who
has cancelled a lesson.
• Rescheduling of lessons due to public holidays, illness or other reason is at the
discretion of Downtown Creative Studios and subject to negotiation with the
student.
• Replacement Downtown Creative Studios teachers can be, without notice, used
to facilitate any lesson in the case of the students usual assigned teacher being
absent for any reason.
• Students participate in the lessons at their own risk and Downtown Creative
Studios take no responsibility whatsoever for any damage or loss suffered by the
student including theft to property or personal injury.
• The student agrees to be punctual and participate in lessons to the best of their
ability.
• Time lost due to the student arriving late to a lesson will not be compensated.
• Downtown Creative Studios anticipates students will attend lessons with the
requisite preparation and music when required.
• Additional fees will be charged for resources where necessary.
• If payment isn’t received 1 week after the due date a $50 late fee will be incurred
• Lesson times will be automatically booked in for the following term unless
otherwise specified in writing by you
• You will be added to the Downtown Creative Studios mailing list. You may
unsubscribe at any time.
• Your photo or video including in class, concerts or public performances may be
used for promotional purposes for Downtown Creative Studios unless specified
by you in writing to Downtown Creative Studios
• In the event that payment for services provided by Downtown Creative Studios is
not honoured, and action is taken to recover debt, the client shall incur all costs
associated with recovering this debt including debt collector fees.
Additional fees vary dependent on resources teachers require for the individuals lesson. This
will be discussed with students/parents before purchase.
Fee Schedule:
2024 pricing structure (30 minute lessons):
Private Lesson – $48 per lesson
Group of 2 – $31.20 per student per lesson
Group of 3 – $25.60 per student per lesson
Group of 4 – $22.80 per student per lesson
Cancellation Policy for lessons at Mater Dei Instrumental Program
Private Lessons
- Downtown Creative Studios requires 24 hours notice to staff via email or telephone within business hours. Outside of this time, cancellation of any lesson forfeits the prepaid tuition fee.
- If a lesson is cancelled and 24 hours notice has been given, a make up lesson must be arranged and completed before the end of the current term. No catch up lesson or credits will be applied to the following term. If the student is unable to attend a rescheduled lesson the fee will be forfeited.
- No other student’s lesson will be rescheduled to accommodate a student who has cancelled a lesson.
- Rescheduling of lessons due to public holidays, illness or other reason, is at the discretion of Downtown Creative Studios and subject to negotiation with the student.
- Downtown Creative Studios welcome communication with students and their families and will endeavour to come to a mutual agreement.
- Please Note: If a student is to be absent from school, and therefore their lesson, as the result of a school excursion or any other event, it is the responsibility of the parent to advise Downtown Creative Studios in writing to give 24 hours notice. Downtown Creative Studios makes every effort to plan around the school calendar but it is ultimately the responsibility of the family to advise in writing if their child will be absent on their lesson day.
- Please note that missed lessons at Mater Dei Catholic Primary School may be rescheduled either at the school, at Downtown Creative Studios or on Zoom.
Group Lesson 2+
- Downtown Creative Studios requires 24 hours notice to staff via email or telephone within business hours. Outside of this time, cancellation of any lesson forfeits the prepaid tuition fee.
- Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult
to arrange catch up lessons for individuals in group lessons. Our policy
therefore, is that no individual from a group lesson is entitled to any
catch up lesson or fee refund of the cancelled lesson.
- However, Downtown Creative Studios welcome communication with students and their families and will endeavour to come to a mutual agreement.
- Rescheduling of lessons due to public holidays, illness or other reason, is at the discretion of Downtown Creative Studios and subject to negotiation with the student.
1) Location of lessons
Downtown Creative Studios works with schools to find a suitable place for our private and semiprivate lessons to be held. The final location is at the discretion of the school. DCS and each school’s number one priority is the safety of their students and therefore higher traffic and visible areas are used for lessons. This may mean the same space could be used by other staff or that other staff or students may pass through our learning space. DCS staff do their best to create a quiet and focused lesson in any location we are given. IF you have a problem with the location of lessons, please be in contact with your chosen school – there may be limited options available.
2) Instruments to learn on
Students may learn on the following instruments due to availability, logistics and sound restrictions at Downtown Creative Studios and in schools:
Drums – Electric drum kit
Piano – Electric Piano, Full size keyboard or half size keyboard
When full size and acoustic instruments are available to us, DCS will always strive to use them however please be confident that professional and efficient lessons can be carried out using any of the above variety of instrumentation.
